Oscar winner Diablo Cody has always enjoyed horror films and you need to look no further than her work on “Jennifer’s Body” to know just how much show adores and admires the genre.
After working on a number of dramas and comedies, Cody returned to her horror roots during the global pandemic when she was seeking an escape and came up with a new spin on an old story.
Inspired by the 1980’s comedy “Weird Science” where a pair of nerdy guys decide to take it upon themselves to build the perfect woman, Cody wondered what would the opposite of that look like with a girl trying to build the perfect man.
Her script eventually landed in the hands of director Zelda Williams and together they crafted an inspired take on the classic “Frankenstein” story when a goth girl growing up in the 1980s decides to reanimate a corpse from the Victorian era and begin piecing together the man of her dreams, which comes along with murderous results…
