Following the success of his 2017 breakout hit “Terrified,” Argentinean director Demian Rugna wanted to travel from the city to the country for his next feature after he did the same in his own personal life.
Rugna was struck by the problem that plagues Argentina with owners of large swaths of land maintaining so much power and contaminating their fields with pesticides, which can severely damage the poor people forced to work there.
Seeing people fall sick from cancer caused by those pesticides inspired Rugna to write a story that asked the question ‘what if something bad happened to these poor people in the middle of nowhere?”
Rugna also loved the idea about making an exorcism movie and soon enough the two ideas swirling around his head were married together.
Set against the backdrop of a distant village in Argentina, two brothers suffer the consequences after attempting to rid their town of a possessed body with a demon inside that’s desperate to be born again…
