In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we face down a new demon as we review the 2023 sequel “The Exorcist: Believer”…

“The Exorcist” is widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films of all time not only because of the cinematic masterpiece created by William Peter Blatty and William Friedkin but also due to the critical acclaim the movie received as the first horror movie to ever receive an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Over the next 50 years, a series of sequels and prequels followed including several films and even a short-lived TV series but none of them seemed to capture the spirit of the original film.

Fresh off his work with a new “Halloween” trilogy, David Gordon Green came on board as the director with plans to make a sequel that would have direct ties to the original film but ignore everything that came after.

The movie follows two young girls who disappear in the woods for three days but when they finally return, something is different about them and it turns out they didn’t come back alone…
