All the way back in 2016, development on a prequel to the classic horror film “The Omen” started with Ben Jacoby writing the script.
The project languished for several years until 20th Century Studios took up plans for the film in 2022, this time with newcomer Arkasha Stevenson serving as director and co-writer for the prequel.
As a huge fan of the original film from director Richard Donner, Stevenson felt it was important to make sure her follow up was aesthetically and tonally similar with the movie set in the early 1970s.
The script pays homage to the first film in many ways and Stevenson ensured that the ties between the two movies would really create a bond in the storytelling.
The prequel centers around a young novitiate named Margaret, who is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church. It’s there she really begins questioning her faith while uncovering a terrifying conspiracy that seeks to give birth to evil incarnate….
