Sharlto Copley — best known for his roles in films such as ‘District 9’ and ‘Elysium’ — has landed the lead role in the upcoming Playstation network series ‘Powers’ based on the comic book of the same name from writer Brian Michael Bendis.

Copley will portray Christian Walker, a detective who used to be instilled with super powers but now uses his experience to work as a cop tracking down super powered related crimes. Beaten down and nearly broken, Walker is a troubled cop with a whole lot weighing on his mind as he leads the investigations into people with ‘powers’ all throughout his city.

Also cast on Monday is ‘True Blood’ favorite Michelle Forbes, who will play ‘Retro Girl’ in the upcoming series. The character is known in ‘Powers’ as a paragon of virtue and a hero by all accounts.

The new series from Sony, which will air on the new Playstation network, has 10 episodes already ordered with a debut expected in 2015.
