‘Preacher’ will reach its conclusion with a fourth and final season debuting on AMC later this year…
The search for God will end with ‘Preacher’ season 4 debuting later this year.
The AMC series adapted from comic books by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon will come to a close after a fourth and final season debuts on August 8. The news came courtesy of ‘Preacher’ executive producer and co-creator Seth Rogen.
“The fourth and final season of Preacher is coming. It’s been a wild ride. Thank you all,” Rogen wrote.
‘Preacher’ was a comic book series that several creators had attempted to tackle in the past, both in film and television, but the project didn’t come to life until Rogen and longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg teamed up to land the rights and then develop the series for AMC.
Starring Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga and Joseph Gilgun, ‘Preacher’ tells the story of small town preacher Jesse Custer, who is granted the powers of God after a hybrid angel/demon named Genesis finds him and uses him as a host. Alongside his girlfriend Tulip and a drunk Irish vampire named Cassidy, Jesse sets out on a mission to find God, who gave up his throne in heaven after Genesis escaped.
While the past three seasons of ‘Preacher’ haven’t been ratings hits for AMC, the series has definitely found an audience and received critical praise along the way as well.
Now ‘Preacher’ will come to an end with the fourth and final season debuting on August 8 while Rogan and Goldberg prepare to move all of their productions over to Lionsgate after inking an exclusive deal with them just recently.
