Leave it to Quentin Tarantino to find a way to team up Django from his hit movie ‘Django Unchained’ with swash-buckling hero Zorro in a new comic from Dyanmite and DC Comics…

Dynamite and DC Comics are coming together to help a new team-up book from creator Quentin Tarantino and writer Matt Wagner.

The series will combine Tarantino’s character Django from the film ‘Django Unchanged’ with legendary swordsman and hero Zorro in a new book expected to be released in late 2014.

“I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt,” Tarantino said in a press release. “It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together.”

While Django Unchained has already been adapted as a comic book by DC imprint Vertigo previously, Tarantino was never actually involved with the project. This time around he’ll be working with Wagner to tell the story of Django and Zorro crossing paths in a new comic book story.

Wagner has previously worked on two different books about Zorro including the featured title that ran from 2008-2010 and Zorro Rides Again, which ran from 2011-2012.  The legendary character has been around pop culture since 1919 appearing in TV, movies, books and comic books.

Now all we need is for the Lone Ranger to show up and we’ll have the pop culture western trifecta.
