The “Riverdale” spinoff “Katy Keene” has been cancelled after only one season on The CW.
The network made the announcement on Friday.
While The CW is notoriously devoted to their original programming with early renewals handed out to numerous series over the past few years, “Katy Keene” did not survive after mediocre ratings throughout the first season.
The show was based on characters from Archie Comics with ties to one of the CW’s most popular series, “Riverdale” including actress Ashleigh Murray, who crossed over to play Josie McCoy on the new series.
Unfortunately, viewers didn’t flock to “Katy Keene” like they did “Riverdale” or another spinoff “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which airs on Netflix.
There’s still a chance “Katy Keene” is revived because Warner Bros. studio is shopping the show around in hopes of finding a new home including a possible landing spot on HBO Max. Of course, HBO Max and Warner Bros. are owned by AT&T.
