Rob Zombie will finally get his chance to direct “The Munsters” reboot movie after announcing plans for his next film project…

“The Munsters” will soon return to 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

On Monday, heavy metal rock star turned horror movie director Rob Zombie officially announced his next project as he will tackle a reboot of the 1960s sitcom in a new movie reboot.

“Attention Boils and Ghouls! The rumors are true! ☠️ My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! ???????????????? Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress!” Zombie wrote on Instagram.

Zombie has been a huge fan of “The Munsters” for many years and he showed off his passion for the series in his debut solo album with the popular track “Dragula,” which was named after the family car seen on the show.

“The Munsters” originally ran for 70 episodes over two seasons with the concept of the show featuring characters mostly based around the classic Universal monsters as they attempted to adapt to a new life after leaving Transylvania and moving to the fictional town of Mockingbird Heights. The original series was considered “a satire of eastern European immigrants living an American suburban lifestyle.”

The main cast members on the show included Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster (Frankenstein), Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster, Al Lewis as Grandpa (an aging Dracula), Beverley Owen (who was later replaced by Pat Priest) as Marilyn Munster (the one member of the family who looked completely normal) and Butch Patrick as Eddie Munster (the Wolfboy).

The new film is set up at Universal Studios 1440 Entertainment with Zombie set to return to the director’s chair for the first time since his film “3 From Hell” was released in 2019. Zombie directed his first film — the shocking blood soaked “House of 1,000 Corpses” back in 2003 as well as the critically acclaimed sequel in 2005 titled “The Devil’s Rejects.”

Zombie also famously directed a remake of the original “Halloween” as well as a subsequent sequel.

Now Zombie will get the chance to bring “The Munsters” back to life with his upcoming film adaptation.
