Robert Egger’s highly anticipated take on “Nosferatu” has a release date but the film won’t arrive until Christmas 2024…
Robert Eggers will wait a little while before unleashing his take on “Nosferatu.”
The highly anticipated remake based on the classic 1922 horror film is set to land in theaters on December 25, 2024.
“The audacious filmmaking of Robert Eggers is always a gift for fans, and we can promise that his Nosferatu is planning quite the Christmas feast.” Peter Kujawski, Chairman of Focus Features, said in a statement along with the release date for the film.
The original “Nosferatu” starred Max Schreck as Count Orlock — a vampire who becomes infatuated with the wife of his real estate agent and ultimately brings a plague to their town. The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews and has remained a cult classic for over 100 years.
Eggers’ take on “Nosferatu” will see “It” star Bill Skarsgard slip into the role of Count Orlock while Lilly-Rose Depp will portray Ellen Hutter — the woman he desires — with additional cast including Nicholas Hault, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney and Willem Dafoe.
Of course, Dafoe has his own experience with this particular film after he portrayed Schreck in the movie “Shadow of the Vampire,” which served as a re-telling of the making of “Nosferatu.”
Eggers has been attached to a “Nosferatu” remake for several years but he’ll finally get to unleash his version of the film in 2024.
