There will be a ‘big crossover’ between ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ in 2018…
Let the speculation begin.
On Sunday night during the latest episode of ‘Talking Dead’ on AMC, Robert Kirkman — creator of ‘The Walking Dead’ — and Scott M. Gimple — who is the show runner for ‘The Walking Dead’ and now the executive producer on ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ — teased the upcoming crossover between the two shows.
Kirkman just recently revealed that plans were in motion for at least one character to crossover between the two shows but he wouldn’t say who it was going to be or which show they would be appearing on either.
While Kirkman was still evasive with revealing too many details, he says fans won’t have to wait all that long for the crossover to happen because he promises it will unfold next year. Of course that still doesn’t tell us which show will get the crossover character, but it appears the story is already set.
“Can’t say much. All I will say is it’s definitely going to happen in 2018,” Kirkman teased. “So that’s either going to be the back end of season 8 [of ‘The Walking Dead’], ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 4 or the front half of season 9 [of ‘The Walking Dead’]. One of those options, but before the end of 2018, big crossover.”
Now Gimple took it one step further by saying that details about the crossover may be revealed much sooner than anyone could have expected.
“We will know more about it sooner than later. Sooner than later,” Gimple said.
Now it’s well known that ‘The Walking Dead’ currently takes place outside of Washington D.C. in the suburbs of Virginia while ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ is stationed on the west coast near the border between California and Mexico. Add to that, ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ is behind ‘The Walking Dead’ in terms of timeline so it’s unclear how the crossover would work exactly but there are a number of possibilities.
Whatever is going to happen, it appears the crossover plans are happening quickly as ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ will interact in the very near future.
