Australian actress Ruby Rose will portray Batwoman in the upcoming Arrow-verse crossover on The CW with hopes of eventually getting her own series…
Ruby Rose is Batwoman.
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the popular Australian actress, who became a household name during her turn on ‘Orange is the New Black’ season, would be portraying Batwoman on the CW.
Right now, Batwoman is expected to appear as the central figure in the upcoming Arrow-verse crossover this season where Rose will show up on ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ during the annual event series.
Beyond that, a ‘Batwoman’ series is already under development at the CW and if the show is picked up, Rose would lead that series that would likely debut during 2019 or 2020.
In the Arrow-verse, Batwoman — real name Kate Kane — is described as “armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, she soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
As for Rose, this will be her first major role on television since her appearance on ‘Orange is the New Black’. Most recently, Rose has popped up in several film roles including ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’, ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ as well as an upcoming role in the movie ‘The Meg’ that opens in theaters on Friday.
Look for Rose to make her first appearance as ‘Batwoman’ when the CW crossover kicks off late this year on ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’.
