Ryan Coogler has inked a deal to return to write and direct the upcoming ‘Black Panther’ sequel from Marvel Studios…
Ryan Coogler remains one of the most sought after writers and directors in all of Hollywood but Marvel Studios has managed to ink him to a new deal so he can return for the upcoming ‘Black Panther’ sequel.
While it might seem like a no brainer, Coogler hadn’t officially signed on to return for the sequel after a blockbuster year for the first ‘Black Panther’ movie.
‘Black Panther’ earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide with Coogler’s vision for the film applauded as one of the best movies of the year. Many critics believe ‘Black Panther’ will be up for several Academy Awards, which is very unusual for a comic book blockbuster like this one.
Marvel had always wanted Coogler to return for the ‘Black Panther’ sequel but he just recently (and very quietly) inked a new deal to write and direct the movie.
Coogler will likely begin writing the next ‘Black Panther’ movie in the very near future with plans to go into production sometime in late 2019 or early 2020. There’s no release date for the next ‘Black Panther’ movie as Marvel is still plotting out future releases beyond the next ‘Avengers’ movie that comes out in May 2019.
Coogler’s next project will be the film ‘Wrong Answer’, which will also star ‘Black Panther’ cast member Michael B. Jordan. It appears once that’s wrapped, Coogler will turn his full attention to the ‘Black Panther’ sequel.
