The upcoming “She-Hulk” series on Disney+ has found a new villain.
Jameela Jamil — best known for her past roles on “The Good Place” as well as hosting the TBS series “The Misery Index” — has been cast as a major villain in the upcoming Marvel series.
Jamil will portray Titania — a character first introduced during the Marvel comic book event series “Secret Wars” where a young timid girl named Mary MacPherran was given superpowers by Doctor Doom as he amassed a team to go up against the heroes. Titania was granted superhuman strength, durability, and stamina as a result of the alien technology Doom used to transform her into a new ally for his cause.
Titania’s powers are very similar to those belonging to Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk, who will be played by Tatiana Maslany in the upcoming series.
In the comics, Titania often serves as a major villain going up against She-Hulk and it appears that will be the same plan for the new series on Disney+.
The upcoming “She-Hulk” series will also feature Mark Ruffalo returning as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, who is actually Jennifer Walters’ cousin and he’s the one responsible for her gaining powers in the first place after he’s forced to give her a blood transfusion. The only difference is when Jennifer gains her powers as She-Hulk, the transformation doesn’t turn her into a rage filled monster.
Instead, She-Hulk actually maintains much of the same personality, memory and traits as Jennifer Walters except she’s big and green and all kinds of powerful.
There’s no word yet when “She-Hulk” might debut but this is one of numerous Marvel series currently in the works at Disney+ including “Moon Knight” starring Oscar Isaac, “Secret Invasion” starring Samuel L. Jackson and “Hawkeye” with Jeremy Renner.
