The upcoming ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff ‘Mayans MC’ is headed for a new pilot episode…
The highly anticipated ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff currently titled ‘Mayans MC’ is headed for a reshoot as well as recasting for some key parts in the series.
According to several reports, the pilot will be reshot after recasting is handled with creator Kurt Sutter stepping away from the director’s chair to focus on writing. Norberto Barba (‘The Bridge’, ‘Preacher’) has been tapped to direct the pilot episode.
Reshoots for pilot episodes aren’t that uncommon and this isn’t anything new for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ either.
When that series was first picked up to pilot by FX, the show was shot with Scott Glenn (‘Daredevil’, ‘The Leftovers’) in the lead role playing ‘Sons of Anarchy’ leader Clay Morrow. Reshoots were eventually ordered and Ron Perlman ultimately ended up in the role before the series was picked up.
Sutter released a message on Twitter on Wednesday about the upcoming reshoots

The ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff is focused on the Mayans Motorcycle Club, a group that was featured heavily in the original series for seven seasons. The show takes place in the aftermath of Jax Teller’s death following EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayans in the charter near the California and Mexico border.
