“Star Wars” will have a heavy presence on Disney+ with a slew of new series including “Ahsoka” “Lando” and Hayden Christensen returning as Darth Vader…
The “Star Wars” universe will expand to all new reaches with a slew of new series headed to Disney+.
Plans for the upcoming shows were announced during a Disney investors meeting on Thursday where several huge revelations were made.
First up Ahsoka Tano will get her own live action series titled “Ahsoka” with Rosario Dawson in the lead role as she continues her story after previously appearing during “The Mandalorian” season 2. Longtime “Star Wars” fans were excited to see Ahsoka Tano brought to live action after she was a key character during the “Star Wars: Clone Wars” animated series as well as the follow-up, “Star Wars: Rebels.”

Now “Ahsoka” will continue her journey as the former Jedi knight continues to look for her friend Ezra Bridger, which will undoubtedly put her directly into the destructive path of Grand Admiral Thrawn. The story for “Ahsoka” will take place during the same timeline as “The Mandalorian,” which means those two shows could eventually crossover at some point.
Also announced on Thursday is the limited event series “Obi Wan Kenobi” starring Ewan McGregor as he reprises his role from the “Star Wars” prequels. The bigger news, however, was that Hayden Christensen has signed onto return as Darth Vader for the new limited series.
Christensen previously portrayed Anakin Skywalker in two of the “Star Wars” prequels — “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith” — with the latter featuring his transformation into Darth Vader.
“Obi Wan Kenobi” will take place approximately 10 years after the events in “Revenge of the Sith” as the Empire has come to power under Emperor Palpatine as well as his apprentice, Darth Vader.

Next up was “Andor” — a series that will be focused on Cassian Andor, who was first introduced during “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” This series will tell his story before he joined that fateful mission that saw him help steal the plans to the Death Star before he and his entire crew were sacrificed in battle. Diego Luna will return to play Cassian Andor in the new series as well as Alan Tudyk voicing his droid friend K-2S0.

Another new event series announced on Friday was “Lando,” which will follow the exploits of Han Solo’s friend and longtime swindler, Lando Calrissian. Justin Simien — best known for his work on the series “Dear White People” — is currently developing the series.
“The Acolyte” is the next “Star Wars” series announced on Friday as “Russian Doll” showrunner Leslye Headland tackles an entirely new story that will feature a “mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.”
“Rangers of the New Republic” will also be coming to Disney+ as a “Star Wars” series running during the same time period as “The Mandalorian,” which means approximately five years after the events in “Return of the Jedi.”
There is also a new animated series headed to Disney+ with “Star Wars: Bad Batch,” which dropped a teaser during the meeting on Thursday.
