The upcoming “Star Wars” spinoff film “The Mandalorian & Grogu” has a release date now set for 2026, which will bring the Disney+ series to the big screen…
There’s still no word about “The Mandalorian” season 4 but we now know for certain that the film based on those characters will drop in 2026.
The movie titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” which will be directed by Jon Favreau, officially set a release date for May 22, 2026.
The film will be written by Favreau and longtime collaborator Dave Filloni but not much else is known about the project. With the film coming in 2026, that still leaves questions about whether or not “The Mandalorian” will continue on Disney+ for another season or could the storylines ultimately wrap up with this new film?
It’s impossible to know for certain right now but given the release date of the film in 2026, it seems unlikely that another season will finish production before filming begins on the spinoff movie.
All of the major actors involved with “The Mandalorian” are expected to return for the film including series star Pedro Pascal, who voices Din Djarin aka The Mandalorian and occasionally fills out the suit as well whenever the helmet is removed. Not much else is known yet, although it seems likely that regulars such as Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo Katan and other regulars will also appear in the film.
When “The Mandalorian” season 3 ended, Mando helped Bo-Katan take back Mandalore from Moff Gideon as she reclaimed her place as the leader of the Mandalorians with hopes to rebuilt her home planet. Meanwhile, Mando adopted Grogu as his son and they are ordered by the Armorer to travel the galaxy together so the little one can learn their ways as Mandalorians.
Together, Mando and Grogu end up accepting a job helping the New Republic track down the last remnants of the Galactic Empire through the time honored occupation as bounty hunters. That’s where we ended so it’s tough to say where the story will pick up again in “The Mandalorian & Grogu.”
