The cast for the final season of “Stranger Things” just landed a huge addition as Linda Hamilton will join the show for the last episodes of the series.
The news was announced during Netflix’s TUDUM event where Hamilton filmed a video for the audience in attendance as she prepares to join “Stranger Things” season 5.
“I am so excited to share this news with you,” Hamilton said. “I’m joining the cast for ‘Stranger Things’ 5. I don’t know how to be a fan girl and an actress at the same time. I’m going to work on that.”
Of course, Hamilton is best known for originating the role of Sarah Connor in “The Terminator” in 1984 and then reprising her role for the blockbuster sequel “T2: Judgment Day” in 1991. Hamilton portrayed the iconic heroine one more time in “Terminator: Dark Fate” in 2019.
Beyond her roles in “The Terminator” franchise, Hamilton has starred in dozens of films and TV series including “Chuck,” “Dante’s Peak,” and “Beauty and the Beast,” which earned her a pair of Golden Globe nominations.
Hamilton also becomes the latest 80s icon to join “Stranger Things” with a past and present cast that included names such as Winona Ryder, Sean Astin, Cary Elwes and Robert Englund.
There’s no word yet on who Hamilton will be playing or the role she may have in the final season of “Stranger Things” but it’s likely she will have a major part in the show considering the gravity surrounding the announcement.
Right now, the final season of “Stranger Things” has not started production as series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have honored the ongoing writer’s strike while refusing to move forward with the show until an agreement is made with the studios. The Duffer brothers have started working on scripts for the final season but it seems unlikely the show will get into production until sometime late in 2023 — assuming the writer’s strike ends relatively soon.
Until then let the speculation begin about Hamilton’s character and when we’ll actually get to see “Stranger Things” season 5.
