Following a long wait, “Stranger Things” has started production on the fifth and final season of the hugely popular Netflix series…
The final days of “Stranger Things” is upon us.
On Monday, production on the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” officially kicked off after the show endured a longer than expected wait to get back to filming due to the writers and actors’ strikes this past year. The original plan was for “Stranger Things” to start filming in mid-2023 but that was shut down due to the strikes.
Now with the cast and crew in place in Atlanta where the show is filmed, “Stranger Things” celebrated the start of production with a photo showing off the entire cast ahead of production.
A quick look at the photo posted shows that everybody is coming back for the fifth and final season including all of the main cast led by David Harbour and Winona Ryder as well as the kids who don’t really look like kids anymore with Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp and Sadie Sink.
They’re joined in the photo by Cara Buono, Joe Keery, Amybeth McNulty, Charlie Heaton, Brett Gelman, Maya Hawke, Natalia Dyer, Jamie Campbell Bower, Priah Ferguson and the newest cast member joining the show — “Terminator” star Linda Hamilton!
The creators behind the hit series — brothers Matt and Ross Duffer — are also on hand for the start of production.

Not much is known about the final season of “Stranger Things” outside of some teasers that the Duffer brothers discussed at the end of season 4, which includes a plan to condense the final episodes and focus more on what’s happening in Hawkins, Indiana after branching out rather dramatically over the past two seasons.
They also plan on answering a lot of questions — perhaps most importantly everything you’ve ever wanted to know about the Upside Down.
When first creating the series, the Duffer brothers created 25-page bible of sorts that delves into plans for the show as well as details about the Upside Down. They plan to complete that mythology with the final season.
“The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we’ve punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in Season 5,” Ross Duffer said back in 2022. “And that’s really going to affect what Season 5 is about.”
With production on “Stranger Things” season 5 just starting, it’s not expected that the show will return to Netflix until sometime in 2025, although no exact debut date has been announced just yet.
