Of course, ‘Stranger Things’ being renewed for season 3 seemed more like a formality at this point considering the incredible success the show has had since first debuting during the summer in 2016.
While the first season didn’t come with a ton of marketing push behind it, ‘Stranger Things’ broke out as one of the biggest hits of the year and ended up getting numerous Emmy nominations. The second season has received rave reviews as well and while Netflix doesn’t release viewership numbers, rumors had swirled that the first episode from the sophomore season had more than 15 million viewers within the first 72 hours of being released.
There’s no word yet on when ‘Stranger Things’ season 3 will go into production but the creators behind the series, the Duffer brothers, are hard at work on writing the episodes with filming likely to kick off sometime during the first half of 2018.
