“Stranger Things” revealed at least one bit of information about the fifth and final season, although there’s still no word on when production will begin…
“Stranger Things” season 5 won’t arrive for quite some time but the first tease about the final episodes has now been revealed.
On Sunday as part of “Stranger Things” day from Netflix, the script for the first episode in the fifth and final season was posted along with the title “The Crawl.” The episode is being written by series creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
While that doesn’t tell us much, “Stranger Things” titles have been notoriously tied to something specific that happens in that particular episode.
The date for “Stranger Things” day stems from the original storyline in the series with Will Byers going missing on November 6, 1983 and that’s where the adventures started.
For instance, “Stranger Things” season 4, episode 1 was titled “The Hellfire Club” and that obviously introduced Eddie Munson and the new group of misfits he led that also featured Mike and Dustin. Then episode 4 was titled “Dear Billy,” which ended up as a pivotal moment in the show as Max was resigned to her own death after realizing that she couldn’t escape Vecna’s wrath and she penned a letter to her brother, who sacrificed his life to save her in season 3.
What exactly “The Crawl’ means remains a mystery but even the cast is curious about the title with Maya Hawke commented “when do I get to read this?” That also seems to confirm that there’s still no date for “Stranger Things” season 5 to get into production.
In other words, don’t expect the show to return for the final season on Netflix until sometime in 2024 or possibly even 2025, depending on when filming gets underway.
While “Stranger Things” will end with season 5, the Duffer brothers have already signed a longer term deal with Netflix that will also include potential spinoff series, which will undoubtedly earn a lot of interest once the original series is concluded.
