“Superman: Legacy” has beefed up its cast with Nathan Fillion joining as Green Lantern Guy Gardner along with new roles for Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific…
Several new roles have been cast for the upcoming “Superman: Legacy” film from writer and director James Gunn including an all-time fan casting with Nathan Fillion finally portraying a Green Lantern.
Fillion will play Guy Gardner — a Green Lantern member with different origin stories including one where he’s an ex-cop who is inducted into the peacekeeping intergalactic police force — while a separate Green Lantern series is also in development focusing on Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

Years ago, Fillion became a popular choice to portray Green Lantern when there was buzz about a potential movie being made around the character. A fan made trailer even circulated that used footage from Fillion’s past roles that molded him into the Green Lantern.
Now he’ll actually get the chance to portray Guy Gardner in the upcoming “Superman: Legacy” film, which is currently expected to get into production in January 2024.
Of course, Fillion has also been a favorite cast member for many of Gunn’s past films including his directorial debut with the horror/comedy “Slither” along with his most recent work in “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3.”
In addition to Fillion joining the cast, Isabela Merced — best known for her past roles in “Sicario: Day of Soldado” and “Dara and the Lost City of Gold” — will portray Hawkgirl in the upcoming film. Hawkgirl has undergone numerous changes to her origin story over the years so it’s tough to know which one Gunn will use but she’s often been portrayed as a powerful warrior usually battling alongside Hawkman.
Finally, Edi Gathegi — best known for roles in film such as “Gone Baby Gone,” “X-Men: First Class” and the “Twilight” series as well as TV series such as “House” — will portray Mister Terrific.
In the comics, Mister Terrific is a hyper-intelligent superhero and inventor, who is part of the Justice Society of America.
All three characters will appear in the upcoming film alongside David Corenswet, who will portray Superman-Clark Kent while Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane.
“Superman: Legacy” is set for release on July 11, 2025.
