“Superman & Lois” has found a new actor to play Jonathan Kent after Jordan Elsass suddenly left the series ahead of season 3…
“Superman & Lois” has officially found a new Jonathan Kent.
Michael Bishop — who previously appeared in the Disney Channel series “Spin” — has been cast in the role starting with season 3 after Jordan Elsass suddenly left the show.
Elsass’ exit came as a surprise with Warner Bros. stating that he “notified the studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for Season 3 due to personal reasons.” While Elsass never made a public statement regarding the decision to leave the CW series, he actually addressed his exit in a Cameo video made for a fan.
“It’s sad, it’s a real shame,” Elsass said. “I know that I was pumped for Season 3, for sure, but what are you going to do? Anyway, mental health is definitely 100-percent priority. It’s pinnacle. It’s got to take precedence. And mine has been … the last couple of years … it’s been rough.
“I need some time to myself. I’m still debating whether I’m even going to act for a while. I may go in a different direction. I know that’s definitely going to be disappointing to some people.”
“Superman & Lois” was renewed for season 3 at The CW as the show becomes one of the only remaining DC related series still airing on the network alongside “The Flash,” which is about to kick off its ninth and final season in 2023.
Bishop will join a returning cast that includes Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang-Cushing, Dylan Walsh as Sam Lane, Wolé Parks as John Henry Irons, Tayler Buck as Natalie Irons, Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing, Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing and Sofia Hasmik as Chrissy Beppo.
“Superman & Lois” is scheduled to return midseason on The CW, although an exact premiere date has not been announced yet.
