Director Matt Reeves debuted a first look at Robert Pattison dressed as “The Batman” for the new film that’s in production with a 2021 release date…
“The Batman” has arrived.
Production has started on the highly anticipated film from director Matt Reeves with Robert Pattinson starring as the latest version of Bruce Wayne and The Dark Knight. On Thursday, Reeves offered up a brief look at Pattinson in costume — albeit in a rather dark video — combined with an ominous score provided by Michael Giacchino.

While the video doesn’t provide a full look at the Batman costume, it’s easy to recognize Pattinson underneath that cowl with a familiar jawline and a brooding look he likely perfected while starring in the “Twilight” films a few years ago.
One part of the costume that has caught the attention of just about everybody online has been the Bat symbol in the middle of his chest. Well, it’s actually not a full Bat symbol — at least nothing quite like anything we’ve seen in past Batman films or the comic books.
Instead, this Bat symbol looks like a pair of grappling guns or even Batarangs on his chest — take a look at judge for yourself. Obviously the final look may be slightly different from this version but filming on “The Batman” is already underway.
“The Batman” is reportedly set up as more of a detective story than past films featuring the Dark Knight with the movie focusing on the early days of Bruce Wayne’s superhero vigilantism.
Pattinson stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman with Zoe Kravitz playing Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepott/The Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
