Jeffrey Wright and Jonah Hill are in talks to join Robert Pattinson in ‘The Batman’ from writer and director Matt Reeves…
The cast of ‘The Batman’ is starting to come together after Robert Pattinson took up the cape and cowl to portray the Dark Knight.
First up, Jeffrey Wright — best known for his current work on ‘Westworld’ — is currently in talks to join ‘The Batman’ in the role of Commissioner James Gordon. The Emmy Award winning actor also previously played in the HBO series ‘Boardwalk Empire’ as well as films such as ‘Syriana’ as well well as pair of James Bond movies — ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Quantum of Solace’.
If a deal is officially struck, Wright would join names such as Gary Oldman and J.K. Simmons, who have also played Commissioner James Gordon in recent ‘Batman’ related films.
In addition to Wright being in talks to join the cast, Academy Award nominated actor Jonah Hill is also in early talks to potentially join ‘The Batman’ where he is rumored to play one of the key villains in the movie.
According to reports, part of the struggle to land Hill comes down to the part he would play with rumors swirling that he could portray the Riddler or perhaps the Penguin with several notable villains from Batman’s rogues gallery expected to appear in the movie.
Hill hasn’t focused as much on acting in recent years, instead turning his attention to passion projects like writing and directing the recent film ‘Mid90’s’.
Much like Wright, if Hill signs on to join the cast it would give Reeves some real heavyweights to go alongside Pattinson, who will be suiting up as Batman for the first time in a movie that is expected to follow the Caped Crusader during the early days of his crime fighting.
‘The Batman’ is due out in theaters on June 25, 2021.
