“The Boys” cast for season 3 continues to grow with “The Walking Dead” veteran Laurie Holden joining the show in a recurring role…

“The Boys” has added another famous face to the cast for season 3.

Laurie Holden — best known for her role as Andrea on the AMC series “The Walking Dead” as well as past appearances in films such as “The Mist” — has been cast in a recurring role in the upcoming third season of the Amazon Prime series.

Holden will be playing a supe named Crimson Countess but there’s been no other detail revealed about her character.

The expanding cast for “The Boys” season 3 also recently added three more recurring characters with Sean Patrick Flanery as Gunpowder, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.

None of those characters previously appeared in “The Boys” comics so these are completely original creations for the show.

There are several possibilities how these new super-powered people will join the series. One possibility revolves around a series of flashbacks that are expected to take place with the addition of Jensen Ackles to the cast as Soldier Boy.

Soldier Boy was one of the first super-powered people created by Vought and he dates all the way back to World War II. Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously teased that “The Boys” season 3 would serve as a history lesson of sorts to discover more background on Vought and the supes they’ve created through the lens of Soldier Boy, who previously ran his own team of heroes in the past.

Another possibility could be these new characters will appear in an upcoming episode that will deal with the infamous “Herogasm” story from the comic books. “Herogasm” revolves around a weekend retreat where all of the superheroes from around the globe gather together for a sex-fueled orgy and drug binge.

Of course there are numerous other reasons why these new characters will show up but keep an eye peeled when “The Boys” season 3 debuts.

The series is currently in production in Canada and there’s been no premiere date announced yet but it’s likely “The Boys” will return in early 2022.
