“The Boys” will return for season 4 on Amazon Prime Video.
The renewal comes on the same day the fourth episode of season 3 was released as “The Boys” remains one of Amazon Prime’s most talked about and popular series to date.
Based on comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke along with executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The third season of the show has continued the ongoing fight between The Boys — led by Billy Butcher and his rag-tag group of cohorts — who are all out to stop the so-called “superheroes” developed in a lab by Vought International.
“Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more,” Kripke said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success.”
The success of “The Boys” has led to a pair of spinoffs at Amazon including an animated series called “Diabolical” that featured several independent stories with each one developed by a different writer. There’s also a new spinoff that’s already been ordered to series that takes place in a college for up and coming superheroes.
“The Boys” season 3 is currently airing with new episodes dropping every Friday on Amazon Prime Video.
