“The Boys” spinoff at Amazon set in a college filled with nothing super-powered teenagers and young adults has added two actresses to the cast including one in a leading role.
Jaz Sinclair — best known for her role on the recently completed Netflix series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” — has been cast in the role of Marie and she will be one of the lead characters on the show.
Meanwhile a second role was also announced on Thursday as Lizze Broadway — who has previously starred on “Here and Now” as well as “The Rookie” — will play another college supe named Emma.
The upcoming spinoff based on “The Boys” — which is currently in production a third season in Toronto — the new series will be written by executive producer Craig Rosenberg with the setting at “America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes — run by Vought International.
The new series “is described as an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. Part college show, part “Hunger Games” — with all the heart, satire and raunch of “The Boys.”
Of course, “The Boys” is based on the comic book series of the same name from writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson that details a world where an evil corporation has developed a chemical cocktail that can hand out superpowers, which inevitably transforms recipients into publicly celebrated heroes while also being the most vile, corrupt people possible behind closed doors.
The first two seasons of “The Boys” has been a critical and commercial hit for Amazon, which obviously led to the spinoff series being put into development.
