The CW announced a slew of renewals on Thursday including ‘The Flash’, ‘Riverdale’ and ‘Supergirl’ plus plenty more. Take a look at the full list…
The CW has a habit of announcing early renewals for many of their biggest shows and that’s exactly what they did once again on Thursday at the Television Critics Association.
Here are the series being renewed by the CW:
Arrow (Season 8)
Black Lightning (Season 3)
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (Season 5)
Dynasty (Season 3)
The Flash (Season 6)
Riverdale (Season 4)
Supergirl (Season 5)
Supernatural (Season 15)
Charmed (Season 2)
Legacies (Season 2)
None of those renewals are all that surprising given the ratings produced by each. ‘The Flash’ has been a consistent hit since first debuting as a spinoff of ‘Arrow’ while ‘Riverdale’ has become a pop culture sensation on The CW as well as Netflix with a new spinoff series already in the works for next season.
“This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday — which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates and our advertisers. In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming. The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said on Thursday.
“These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”
Many of the series renewed are still currently in the middle of a season airing on The CW including ‘The Flash’, ‘Riverdale’, ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Arrow’. There’s no word yet if the CW will shake up their schedule for 2019 and 2020 but for now at least all of these series can celebrate another season on the air.
