It appears the only thing that scares the demons in “The Exorcist: Believer” is the possibility of crossing paths with Taylor Swift…
It turns out the scariest film dropping in October will be a concert film by Taylor Swift.
On Thursday, Jason Blum — founder of Blumhouse — announced that the upcoming sequel/reboot “The Exorcist: Believer” was bumping up its release date to October 6 to avoid conflict with the Taylor Swift concert film now set for release on October 13.
Look what you made me do.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” — a multi-billion dollar worldwide tour that’s still ongoing — was just announced for Oct. 13, which put the film up against “The Exorcist: Believer” opening on the same day. And yes, that is Friday the 13th but the horror film scheduled that day had no desire to go up against the Swifties.
Instead, “The Exorcist: Believer,” which is headed up by recent “Halloween” trilogy director David Gordon Green, will hit theaters one week earlier on Oct. 6.
While release dates change for films all the time, typically schedules are known months or sometimes even years ahead of time to avoid potential conflicts. It seems Taylor Swift decided to just drop another bomb with her upcoming concert film, which will undoubtedly pack the theaters after all of her concerts sold out in a matter of hours.
As for “The Exorcist: Believer,” that film will pick up more than 40 years after the original with a pair of girls who go missing in the woods after school one day but then return with something haunting the both of them. Legendary actor Ellen Burstyn will reprise her role as Chris MacNeil from “The Exorcist” alongside Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles and Norbert Leo Butz.
