Grant Gustin is nearing a deal to return for “The Flash” season 9, which could potentially be the final season for the long running CW series…
Grant Gustin will remain “The Flash” for at least one more season.
The actor who has portrayed Barry Allen and his alter ego The Flash is nearing a deal with The CW to sign on for season 9 of the long running series, which could potentially be set up as the final run for the show.
According to multiple reports, Gustin was offered a longer term deal but ultimately agreed to a new one-year contract with his overall schedule cut down to approximately 15 episodes. Gustin and his wife just recently welcomed their first child and with filming of “The Flash” taking place in Vancouver, it’s possible he wants to be closer to home with his family.
With Gustin likely finalizing his deal with the network, that will clear the way for “The Flash” to receive a season 9 renewal from The CW, which would make it the longest running DC related show since the so-called “Arrowverse” first launched. The flagship series “Arrow” ended with season 8 after series star Stephen Amell decided not to return for a ninth season.
“The Flash” has consistently been one of the strongest performers for The CW and remains the highest rated DC series on the network. Several other cast members including series co-star Candice Patton had previously inked new deals last season, which may lock them up for season 9 as well.
Of course, The CW hasn’t announced that “The Flash” is going anywhere but all signs are pointing towards season 9 potentially being the last run for the series.
“The Flash” is set to return to The CW on a new night with the show now airing on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. with the first episode back debuting on March 9.
