“The Flash” will feature a five-episode crossover event to kick off season 8 in November called “Armageddon” with the villain for the series already cast…
The “Arrowverse” may be shrinking — especially considering “Arrow” already ended — but a new crossover event is headed to “The Flash” to kick off season 8.
The latest event series will be titled “Armageddon” and several past or returning characters will be featured during the big crossover that will debut on November 16 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
Here’s the synopsis for the crossover event:
“In “Armageddon,” a powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.”
The “powerful alien” has already been cast as Tony Curran — best known for his past work on series such as “Doctor Who” and “Sons of Anarchy” — will debut as Despero, a longtime villain who often battled with the Justice League in DC Comics.
In this version of the story, Despero as an alien “facing a deadly mission on Earth, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash.” In the comics, Despero was an alien from the planet Kalanor where he ruled with as a tyrant while possessing powers such as mind control, illusions, telekinesis, and telepathy.
The upcoming crossover will also see Team Flash joined by several returning heroes, many of whom are coming back after their shows have already ended. The list includes Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen and Osric Chau as Ryan Choi. Tom Cavanagh will also return as Eobard Thawne aka Reverse Flash while Neal McDonough will reprise his role as Damien Darhk.
“Simply put, these are going to be some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever,” ‘The Flash’ showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement. “Plus, there are some truly epic moments and huge surprises that await our fans. And we’re doing them on a scale that’s bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes.
“So yes, “Armageddon” is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It’s going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got planned.”
The entire five-episode event kicks off in November on The CW.
