The next episode of “The Last of Us” will be available for streaming two days ahead of time with the show going head-to-head with the Super Bowl on Sunday…
“The Last of Us” episode 5 will drop two days early to avoid a head-to-head battle with the Super Bowl.
The hugely popular series based on a video game of the same name will drop the fifth episode of the first season on Friday, February 10 starting at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT on HBO Max and HBO On Demand.
The episode will still air at its regular time at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, Feb. 12 on HBO but viewers will be able to check out “The Last of Us” a little earlier than usual due to the Super Bowl also being played on Sunday. Subsequent episodes of “The Last of Us” will continue to air on HBO on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET leading up to the season finale on March 12.
Many TV series will actually just delay airing a new episode all together due to the massive interest involved around the Super Bowl but HBO will still move forward with “The Last of Us,” although giving viewers a chance to watch the latest installment rather than waiting until Sunday.
“The Last of Us” has already been renewed for season 2 on HBO after the series debuted to huge ratings and has continued to gain interest — and viewers — with each passing episode.
