There’s a new horror movie coming from “The Sopranos” creator David Chase and longtime series writer Terence Winter at New Line Cinema…
David Chase knows a thing or two about whacking people and he’ll put that to good use for his next project as “The Sopranos” creator crosses over to make a horror film with longtime collaborator Terence Winter.
The upcoming project being developed for New Line Cinema will see Chase serve as director and co-writer for the screenplay alongside Winter. Details about the story are being kept under wraps.
It’s not clear if the film will be called “Cleaver.”
All jokes aside, Chase will set up the horror film as part of his overall deal at Warner Bros. where the prolific writer and director has continued to work ever since developing “The Sopranos,” which is regarded as arguably the greatest television show in history.
Of course, Chase previously worked with Winter on “The Sopranos” but this will be the first time the duo have partnered together for a film.
During his time on “The Sopranos,” Winter was nominated for nine Emmy awards for his writing and earned two more nominations for his work on “Boardwalk Empire.” He also earned an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay for “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which was directed by Martin Scorsese.
More recently, Winter has worked on the Paramount+ series “Tulsa King,” which was originally created by Taylor Sheridan, who also co-created the smash series “Yellowstone.” Winter just recently signed back on to serve as the showrunner for “Tulsa King” season 2 after briefly splitting with the series over creative differences.
Of course, “The Sopranos” was one of the biggest award winning shows of all time taking home 21 Emmy awards over the course of six seasons. Chase also returned to the series for the prequel film “The Many Saints of Newark” released in 2021, which he co-wrote with Lawrence Konner.
There’s no telling when details about the horror film from Chase and Winter will become available but these two working on a project together will certainly gain a lot of interest along with New Line Cinema producing.
