Timothy Olyphant will put back on his cowboy hat as Raylan Givens for the upcoming limited series “Justified: City Primeval” based on another Elmore Leonard story…
U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is back.
FX has officially ordered a revival of “Justified” with a new limited series based upon a story from legendary author Elmore Leonard with the new show titled “Justified: City Primeval.”
Timothy Olyphant, who earned an Emmy nomination for his role as Raylan Givens, will return to the role while also serving as an executive producer on the series.
“Justified: City Primeval” will pick up eight years after the original “Justified” series end with Raylan no longer living in Kentucky but once again protecting law and order in Miami while also serving as a part-time father to his 14-year-old daughter that he shares with ex-wife, Winona.
The series based upon a story from Leonard will revolve around a chance encounter on a Florida highway that sends Raylan to Detroit and there he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent sociopath who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and wants to do so again.
“Justified was one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the past decade and an adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s work that was so colorfully brought to life by Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givens, Graham Yost and the entire team of producers, writers, directors and cast,” Eric Schrier, President of FX Entertainment, said in a statement.
“To have this group come together again with Tim as Raylan in a new and different Elmore Leonard story is thrilling. I want to thank our showrunners Dave and Michael and their fellow executive producers Tim, Graham, Sarah and Carl, the Elmore Leonard estate as well as our partners at Sony Pictures Television, for making this possible.”
“Justified” originally ran for six seasons on FX while serving as a critical and commercial hit for the network with the series ending in 2015.
Now “Justified: City Primeval” will revive the series with Olyphant in the starring role.
There’s no word at this time if other cast members from “Justified” will return to the upcoming series either in a starring role or perhaps making cameo appearances in the show.
