Stephen Dorff will join Mahershala Ali as the co-leads for ‘True Detective’ season 3….
Mahershala Ali finally has a partner for ‘True Detective’ season 3.
Stephen Dorff — best known for his role in films such as ‘Blade’, ‘SFW’, ‘Deuces Wild’ and ‘City of Industry’ — has been cast in the co-lead role for the upcoming third season on HBO.
Dorff will play Detective Roland West, who alongside Ali’s character Wayne Hays, has his life and career altered over the course of three decades by a baffling unsolved crime.
The new season will take place in the Ozarks with HBO describing the latest ‘True Detective’ installment as “macabre crime and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.”
‘True Detective’ creator Nic Pizzolatto penned the entire season minus one episode that he worked on alongside ‘Deadwood’ creator David Milch, who also came on board to help craft the overall story for the third installment of the anthology crime series.
There’s no word yet on when ‘True Detective’ season 3 will debut but with the principle leads in place, it should be that much longer until production gets underway.
