The upcoming season that features Oscar winner Jodie Foster in the lead role will the first without original series creator Nic Pizzolatto on board after he wrote the majority of the episodes through the first three seasons.
This time around Issa Lopez — a critically acclaimed director behind the horror film “Tigers Are Not Afraid” — will serve as showrunner, writer and director for all of the episodes in the new season of “True Detective.” Barry Jenkins, who directed the Academy Award winning film “Moonlight,” also serves as an executive producer on the project along with Foster.
