“Utopia” will not be returning for a second season after Amazon Prime cancelled the show led by “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn…
There will be no return to “Utopia.”
The recent series headed up by “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn has been cancelled by Amazon Prime after just one season on the streaming service.
“Utopia” followed a group of conspiracy theory loving friends, who were convinced that the comic book that they all adored so much also contained clues to real life disasters that were happening across the globe. When they are ultimately caught up in a battle between an evil genius hell bent on releasing a deadly virus and the heroine from their story on a mission to stop him, the friends find out that reality is sometimes much scarier than fiction.
The series was developed by Flynn based on a show of the same name originally released in the U.K. It also featured John Cusack in his first ever series regular role on television.
Unfortunately, Cusack and the rest of the cast won’t be back to finish the story after Amazon Prime decided to pull the plug on “Utopia” after only one season.
