The first trailer for “Abigail” has arrived as the directors behind “Scream VI” along with star Melissa Barrera team up again for a new horror film where a group of kidnappers snatch the wrong child…
“We kidnapped a fucking vampire … a ballerina vampire”
The new trailer for “Abigail” arrived on Thursday — the latest horror film from Radio Silence, the team behind “Ready or Not” and the recent “Scream” sequels — and this looks like a bloody good time.
Armed with a massive cast including “Scream VI” star Melissa Barrera returning to work with the Radio Silence crew again as well as Dan Stevens, Kevin Durand, Kathryn Newton, Giancarlo Esposito and the late Angus Cloud in one of his final roles, “Abigail” details a kidnapping gone wrong.
Here’s the official synopsis for the upcoming film:
“After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.”
The little girl — played by Alisha Weir — is actually a vampire and it turns out she’s not trapped in the house with the kidnappers but instead the kidnappers are trapped in the house with her and she’s out for blood.
This is the latest project from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who planned this monster movie and ultimately worked on this film rather than return for “Scream VII,” which we all know fell into utter chaos in recent months. “Abigail” was written by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick.
Check out the new trailer for “Abigail” and get ready for the film to land in theaters on April 19.
