The new Amazon Prime series “Utopia” from “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn is set to debut in September and a new trailer has arrived…
An apocalyptic pandemic is headed for Amazon Prime with the new series “Utopia,” which will debut on the streaming service on Friday, Sept. 25.
The eight-episode series was developed by “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn and it’s based on a BBC series of the same name. The premise of “Utopia” follows a group of comic book loving friends, who begin to discover that stories from their favorite graphic novel are happening in the real world. The friends begin discovering all sorts of connections to real life events — including a viral pandemic — that threaten the world. They also happen upon one more piece of shocking information — the lead character in the graphic novel is a real person named Jessica Hyde.
Here’s the official synopsis from Amazon:
“When the conspiracy in the elusive comic Utopia is real, a group of young fans come together to embark on a high-stakes twisted adventure to use what they uncover to save themselves, each other, and ultimately humanity.”
The new trailer gives a deeper look at the upcoming series, which features a haunting version of REM’s classic son “It’s the End of the World As We Know It.” The new show also co-stars John Cusack in his first regular TV series role.
Check out the new trailer and get ready for “Utopia” to arrive on Sept. 25.
