The first look at the final season of “Better Call Saul” has arrived with a new trailer that teases the end game for the characters leading into “Breaking Bad”…
Jimmy McGill’s transformation into Saul Goodman will be complete by the end of “Better Call Saul” season 6, which serves as the final run of episodes for the critically acclaimed “Breaking Bad” prequel.
The first trailer for the final season arrived on Thursday ahead of the show’s return on April 18.
There are a lot of hints about what’s to come following the fallout from the “Better Call Saul” season 5 finale where Gus Fring attempted to take out his rival Lalo Salamanca only to have the hit against him fail as he escaped in the closing moments of the episode. Lalo now knows that Gus is gunning for him and he’s also aware that his supposed right-hand man Nacho Varga played a part in the assassination attempt.
The trailer also shows Jimmy’s continued turn into Saul Goodman while his wife and partner Kim Wexler has also started to embrace her darker side after essentially going all in with the less than scrupulous business that her husband is building. It was a surprising turn of events — one that even seems to have Jimmy rattled during the trailer.
Of course there are plenty of overtones about the endgame for many of these characters who never actually appeared in “Breaking Bad” not to mention the possibility of revisiting Saul Goodman after he escaped capture once Walter White was exposed but he ended up managing a Cinnabon in a mall in Nebraska.
The final season of “Better Call Saul” will take place over 13 episodes with the show split into two parts.
The first seven episodes will start with the debut on April 18 with the final six episodes of “Better Call Saul” then kicking off on July 11.
