The first look at “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has arrived with an emotional tribute to Chadwick Boseman and the debut of Namor the Sub-Mariner….
The close of the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday ended with a first look at “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” as well as confirmation that Namor the Sub Mariner would be serving as the primary antagonist in the upcoming sequel.
Of course, director Ryan Coogler appeared to introduce the clip following an elaborate introduction provided by Baaba Maal (vocals), Massamba Diop (tama) and dancers and drummers before the cast of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” joined them onstage.
It was an emotional moment for everybody involved after filming the movie following the death of star Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman is memorialized in the trailer, which begins with a somber cover of the song “No Woman, No Cry” before the action begins.
The trailer also introduces famed Marvel character Namor the Sub-Mariner for the first time as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tenoch Huerta portraying the infamous part-time hero and villain.
Following some pulse-pounding action, the trailer concludes with a hint about somebody new wearing the Black Panther costume with a flash of a glove extending the claws before the trailer comes to an end.
Afterwards, Coogler and the cast, which also included Mabel Cadena, Michaela Coel, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, Alex Livinalli, Lupita Nyong’o, Dominique Thorne and Letitia Wright, embraced on stage in an emotional moment as they celebrate the new movie while also mourning Boseman’s absence from the group.
