The new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer gives a full look at the new Black Panther taking over in the wake of King T’Challa’s passing….

The new trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever offers up the first real look at the person who will take up the mantle as Black Panther following the passing of star Chadwick Boseman, who previously played King T’Challa in the original film.

Plans for the Black Panther sequel changed dramatically after Boseman died from colon cancer at just 43 years of age with writer and director Ryan Coogler opting to honor his friend in the story for the new film.

Now Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will serve as a way to pay tribute to Boseman through the death of his character T’Challa, which is a central focus of the story in the sequel. The film becomes a group effort as characters from the original Black Panther film gather to not only honor T’Challa but also rise up together as the nation of Wakanda.

The new trailer also reveals the first full look at the new Black Panther, who appears to be Shuri (played by Letitia Wright) — T’Challa’s sister — and a character who actually takes up that role in the comic books as well. There’s no official confirmation that Shuri becomes Black Panther but a quick look at the new costume all but cements her place as the new leader of Wakanda.

Meanwhile elsewhere in the trailer we get a much deeper look at Namor (played by Tenoch Huerta), who will be serving as an antagonist in the film, as he leads his people from his underwater kingdom of Talokan up to the surface for an epic attack. What forces Namor to leave the water to conquer the surface?

That remains to be seen but the trailer details the adoration that Namor carries from his people during a meeting where M’Baku (Winston Duke) speaks about the influence he holds over his people. ‘

It will be interesting to see how Namor is adapted for the film because the character has a very complicated history with Marvel Comics. At times, Namor has been a hero — often a member of the X-Men — and at other times he’s been a villain including when he flooded all of Wakanda and drowned thousands of innocent people along the way.

Huerta has stated that Namor is not necessarily the villain of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which means there may be an underlying force attempting to draw him into a war with Wakanda but that remains to be seen.

For now, check out the new trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with the move due out on November 11 with tickets on sale now. Also check out the new poster for the film below:
