Here’s the first trailer for “Clerks III” where Kevin Smith takes another real life experience and blends it into a third installment of his most popular film…

When Kevin Smith wrote and directed “Clerks,” it was all based on personal experience after he grew up working in the Quick Stop convenience store in his native New Jersey.

Now 28 years later, Smith will return with “Clerks III,” which once again borrows from his real life after the veteran writer, director and podcast host suffered a heart attack that eventually led to a script for the trilogy in his most popular film franchise.

In the new film, Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) suffers a heart attack while working at the Quick Stop store he owns with best friend Dante Hicks (Brian O’Halloran) and he decides that rather than just watching movies, he should make one of his own.

That leads Randal to the idea that he should craft a film about all of his past experiences working at the Quick Stop and RST Video store next door — very much like Smith did all those years ago for the original “Clerks” film.

The new trailer for the film is littered with guest stars including returning cast members such as Rosario Dawson and Trevor Fehman, who were both in “Clerks II” not to mention Smith regulars like Ben Affleck popping up as well as his real life best friend Jay Mewes coming back as one half of Jay and Silent Bob.

In addition to the film being released for a two-night engagement on September 13 and 15, Smith will also be taking his show on the road where he’ll bring “Clerks III” to individual cities where he’ll screen the movie and then do a Q&A with the audience afterwards.

For now, check out the new trailer for “Clerks III” and check out the list of theaters showing the film when it’s released in September.
