The “Guardians of the Galaxy” saga will come to a conclusion with “Volume 3” and the first trailer for the film has just been released…
“Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3” will mark the completion of a trilogy of films from writer and director James Gunn and the first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel was just released.
The film drops in theaters on May 5, 2023, which follows “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” that comes out on February 17.
The latest film from Gunn will also serve as his swan song to Marvel after taking a job as the new creative director over the DC film and television universe. Of course, Gunn has long said that he planned on finishing his work on “Guardians of the Galaxy” with the third film and many of the actors have already stated that they don’t plan on returning to the roles beyond this latest movie.
There’s still very little known about the plot of the third film but the footage does reveal that Rocket Raccoon will apparently get the chance to return to his home planet where he appears to be reunited with Lylla — the character’s girlfriend from the comic books.
Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) also still seems to be in a rather somber mood after losing Gamora (Zoe Saldana) during the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” only for a past version to remain in the current timeline. The only problem is this version of Gamora doesn’t know him and she definitely hasn’t fallen in love with him (yet anyways).
The new trailer also gives a quick look at Will Poulter in action as Adam Warlock — a character with deep ties to the the Infinity Stones from the comic books. How exactly he’ll be portrayed in the film remains to be seen but Adam Warlock was a major player in many Marvel storylines, especially after the original Infinity Gauntlet series wrapped in 1991.
For now, take a look at the new trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3” and get ready for the film to debut in theaters on May 5.
