The first look at the highly anticipated sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux” has arrived as Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Oscar winning role for the sequel from director Todd Phillips.
“The Joker” earned a number of Oscar nominations including a win for Phoenix as Best Actor and now he’ll return to that role for a sequel that’s also a musical. This time around, Phoenix will be joined by musician Lady Gaga playing The Joker’s love interest and partner in crime, Harley Quinn.
The first trailer doesn’t give too much away as far as plot but it appears that both Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) and Harley Quinn are locked up in the same mental health facility when they cross paths. It doesn’t take long for these two to get drawn to each other and from the look of things, mayhem will ensure rather quickly.
The trailer shows several dream-like sequences with The Joker and Harley sharing a dance set to the sounds of the song “What the World Needs Now” but we don’t actually see them singing … yet anyways.
