Marvel has released an epic sizzle reel previewing their upcoming slate of movies including a first look at “The Eternals” and a new title for the “Black Panther” sequel…
As movie theaters begin reopening across the world, Marvel Studios is ready to welcome audiences back with a full slate of movies scheduled for release over the next two years.
On Monday, Marvel unleashed an epic sizzle reel featuring a voiceover from the late great Stan Lee that led into highlights from past films before featuring a slew of the titles coming from the studio between now and 2023.
As far as the new footage goes, there was a first look at “The Eternals,” which opens on November 5 with Oscar winning director Chloe Zhao leading the project starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Kit Harington. Not much is shown but it’s enough of a teaser to hopefully start building anticipation towards an actual trailer that should probably come sooner rather than later, especially considering there has already been a teaser released for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” which opens on September 3.
The first look at “The Eternals” reveals a group shot as well as Jolie brandishing an impressive looking sword for her character Thena, who can form any weapon using cosmic energy.
The rest of the sizzle reel teased the upcoming Marvel calendar, which you can see below but there were also some new titles revealed along the way as well.
The highly anticipated “Black Panther” sequel from director Ryan Coogler will drop on July 8, 2022 and that film will be titled “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
Plot details for that movie remain under wraps as Coogler reworked the script in the wake of the tragic death of lead star Chadwick Boseman. The new film will not recast his role but instead focus on other characters from the mythical nation of Wakanda.
Meanwhile, a new title was also revealed for “Captain Marvel 2” and that will be called “The Marvels,” which drops on November 11, 2022. That title confirms that Brie Larson’s character Carol Danvers will be sharing space with newcomer Iman Vellani, who will be playing Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Disney+ series before eventually joining the Oscar winner in the “Captain Marvel’ sequel.
There were also additional dates revealed for “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3” as well as “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and a brief teaser for the new “Fantastic Four” movie coming from director Jon Watts, who is also leading the upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home’ sequel that drops on December 17.
