The first trailer for Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” has arrived as Nick Fury makes his return to Earth to battle against a malignant alien force…
The first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming series “Secret Invasion” arrived at D23 on Saturday with a look at the upcoming alien invasion/espionage thriller, which features Samuel L. Jackson making his return as Nick Fury.
Based on the popular Marvel Comics event of the same name that featured a huge revelation that the shape-shifting aliens known as the Skrulls had infiltrated Earth for several years while replacing prominent members of governments and even some superheroes in a calculated attack to takeover the planet.
From the look of things, the new “Secret Invasion” series will follow a similar story as Nick Fury returns to Earth for the first time in years after he’s called to action by his old friend Maria Hill (Colbie Smolders).
The trailer also shows Fury’s friend Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) facing off with that threat in the form of Kingsley Ben Adir, who will be portraying the main villain in the upcoming series.
Of course, “Secret Invasion” also serves as the first appearance of “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke in her first ever Marvel role where she’s rumored to play a prominent Skrull named G’iah/Gloria Warner, although her allegiances aren’t made clear in the trailer.
The series also features Academy and Emmy award winning actor Olivia Colman in her first Marvel role as well, although details about her character remain a mystery.
Plenty of familiar faces will also pop up in “Secret Invasion” including Don Cheadle making his return as James “Rhodey” Rhodes/War Machine.
