The first trailer for Marvel’s “Werewolf By Night” teases the studio taking a stab at horror with this special headed to Disney+ in October…
Marvel actually has quite a few horror characters that have been explored in comic books but the film studio has never really attempted to make a scary movie just yet. That will change with the upcoming release of “Werewolf By Night” — a special presentation that will debut on Disney+ on October 7.
The upcoming special will be based on the comic book of the same name that actually debuted back in 1972 with a character named Jack Russell, who transformed into the terrifying werewolf. With family roots that date back hundreds of years including a run in with Dracula, the Russell family has continued to pass down lycanthropy (transformation into a werewolf) from generation to generation.
Gael García Bernal will portray Jack Russell in the upcoming special alongside Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone with Michael Giacchino directing. Giacchino is well known as one of the top composers in Hollywood after working on the scores for shows like “Lost” as well as films such as “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Doctor Strange” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars” Story.
This time, Giacchino will go behind the camera to direct the “Werewolf by Night” special, which Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teased as “fun scary.”
