Following an explosive freshman season, “Mayor of Kingstown” is set to return for season 2 on Sunday, January 15 on Paramount+.
The series from “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon stars Jeremy Renner as a powerful fixer in Kingstown, Michigan — a city that survives based almost solely upon a thriving prison system. The series also stars Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest as well as Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Aidan Gillen.
When the first season ended, Kingstown faced tragedy after a violent riot broke out inside one of the prison, which left several guards and inmates dead. Now in the aftermath of that ordeal, Mike McLusky (Renner) will have to deal with the fallout and the consequences from the riot after he attempted for months to broker a peace between the prison guards and the inmates serving time.
Mike is also dealing with an old foe named Milo Sunter — a power broker serving time behind bars — who managed to escape custody during the violent uprising.
“Mayor of Kingstown” is just one of many shows that Sheridan has set up at Paramount in addition to the hit series “Yellowstone.” He also has a new series called “Tulsa King” coming in November, which stars Sylvester Stallone in the lead role, along with other series in development such as the latest “Yellowstone” prequel titled “1923” as well as shows such as “Bass Reeves,” “Land Man” and “Lioness.”
Take a look at the first teaser for “Mayor of Kingstown” season 2 and get ready for new episodes to drop on Paramount+ starting in January.
